Diamond, Jewelry & Watch Appraisals: For Insurance and Valuations
There are times in life when it is very important to know how much the jewelry you have in your possession is worth. Insurance companies often require an appraisal before they’re willing to extend coverage. The settlement process works similarly, whether you’re negotiating the end of a marriage or handling an estate. Let’s not forget, it’s nice to know what you have before you sell your jewelry – why accept a price that’s far too low?
Barnes Jewelers: Professional Appraisals Performed On Site
Written appraisals, for insurance and settlement purposes are prepared by our staff of GIA Graduate Gemologist and IJO Master Graduate Gemologist in our state of the art IJO Master Gem Laboratory. These appraisals include a photograph of the item, along with a detailed description, quality analysis and weights on all stones, materials used, and an expected replacement or estate value calculated to industry standards. There is a fee for this service.
Free Informative Appraisals Are Available
With nearly 40 years in the jewelry business, we know that not every appraisal needs to be formally documented. Many times, people are pleased to simply learn more about their jewelry. If you don’t need exact values or stone details, we are happy to share our knowledge.
We can look at your item and offer our opinions as to materials, time of manufacture, and ballpark retail value. This is a great way to learn more about items you’ve been given, yard sale and thrift store finds, and other treasures you may have. Free evaluations are available for up to 2 items; for larger collections, we charge an hourly fee.
